Description

Hollow Tree Stump is a unique and versatile natural hardscape material that creates stunning focal points and functional hiding spots in your aquascape. Featuring a natural hollow interior, these impressive pieces provide perfect shelter for shy fish and shrimp while adding dramatic texture and organic character to your underwater landscape.

Despite their large, impressive size, these pieces are surprisingly lightweight, making them easy to handle and position in your aquarium. The hollow structure creates natural caves and tunnels that fish and invertebrates love, while the organic texture provides excellent surfaces for attaching epiphyte plants like Anubias, Java Fern, and mosses.

Key Features:

  • Large, impressive pieces that are surprisingly lightweight and easy to position
  • Natural hollow interior creates perfect hiding spots and breeding caves
  • Unique organic shapes add character and authenticity to aquascapes
  • Ideal for shy species, breeding setups, and territorial fish
  • Perfect surface for attaching plants and moss
  • Each piece is completely unique with natural variations
  • Priced per kilogram - final price based on actual weight

Note: Each piece is unique. Product images are for illustration only—your piece will vary in size, shape, hollow opening, and bark texture. This is a natural product with organic variation.

Care Information

Preparation: Due to its lightweight nature, this wood will float initially and requires proper preparation before use. Soak the wood in water for 1–2 weeks (or longer for larger pieces) to help it become fully waterlogged and sink. You can speed up this process by weighing it down in a bucket or container of water.

Water Parameters: During the soaking process, the wood will release tannins which may tint the water amber. This is completely natural and beneficial—many fish species appreciate the blackwater conditions created by tannins. If you prefer crystal-clear water, continue soaking and changing the water until tannin release reduces.

Maintenance: Once waterlogged and placed in your aquarium, the wood can be secured with rocks or substrate if needed. Position the hollow opening strategically to create natural-looking caves and shelters. Some biofilm may develop initially—this is normal, beneficial for your ecosystem, and will be consumed by shrimp and algae-eating fish.
