The Cleaner Way to Glue Your Hardscape

Hardscape Cotton is used alongside aquarium-safe adhesives (superglue or epoxy putty) to create a stronger, cleaner bond between rocks, stones, and driftwood. It replaces the old tissue paper trick — giving you a purpose-made, colour-matched material that works with your glue and disappears naturally over time.

How It Works

Apply your adhesive to the hardscape joint, then press the cotton into the glue to act as a bonding medium. The fibrous texture grips the adhesive and fills gaps between irregular surfaces — creating a far more reliable bond than tissue paper, with none of the mess or white residue.

Why Aquascapers Use It

  • Replaces tissue paper – purpose-made for wet aquatic environments, won't disintegrate prematurely
  • Stronger adhesive bond – fibrous structure helps glue grip uneven rock and wood surfaces
  • Colour-matched – Brown, Grey, and Yellow options blend into your hardscape so it's invisible from day one
  • Also great for plants – use to tie down moss, Anubias, and Bucephalandra to hardscape while roots establish
  • Biodegradable – breaks down naturally in water over time, leaving no residue
  • Safe for all livestock – inert and non-toxic for fish, shrimp, and snails

Choose Your Colour

Match the cotton to your stone or substrate tone for a seamless finish. Brown suits lava rock and dark substrates, Grey pairs with Seiryu and dragon stone, and Yellow blends with lighter sands and fossil wood.

Directions

  1. Secure your two hardscape materials firmly together in the desired position.
  2. Densely pack Hardscape Cotton into the gap or joint between the materials.
  3. Apply aquarium-safe scaping glue evenly over the cotton surface.
  4. Ensure the glue is well applied, including the opposite side of the joint for a complete bond.
  5. Allow a few seconds for the glue to cure before releasing.

Caution

  • Wearing a mask, goggles, and gloves is highly recommended.
  • Work in a well-ventilated environment — a fan is recommended.
  • A small amount of smoke and odour may be produced when scaping glue is applied, due to the curing reaction. This is normal.
