Description
Dark Iron Wood is a premium natural hardscape material prized for its dense, dark appearance and intricate tangled root structure. This exotic wood creates dramatic underwater landscapes with minimal tannin leaching, making it ideal for aquascapers who want natural character without significant water discoloration.
The dense, twisted root formations provide excellent structure for building complex aquascapes, creating natural hiding spots for fish and shrimp, and offering perfect attachment points for epiphyte plants like Anubias, Bucephalandra, and mosses.

Care Information
Preparation: Rinse thoroughly under running water before use. Dark Iron Wood typically sinks within 24–48 hours with minimal soaking. For faster results, you can boil larger pieces for 30–60 minutes.
Water Parameters: Dark Iron Wood releases very minimal tannins compared to other driftwoods, resulting in little to no water discoloration. This makes it ideal for crystal-clear aquascapes or when you prefer minimal water chemistry changes.
Maintenance: Wipe down occasionally during water changes. Some biofilm may develop initially—this is normal, beneficial for your ecosystem, and will be consumed by shrimp and algae-eating fish.
Shipping & Returns
Shipping: Hardscape items ship via Australia Post or StarTrack. WA metro orders typically arrive within 3–5 business days; interstate orders may take 5–10 business days depending on location. Heavier pieces may incur additional shipping costs.
Returns: We stand behind the quality of our hardscape. If your Dark Iron Wood arrives damaged or you're not satisfied, contact us within 7 days for a refund or replacement under our Refund Policy. Please note: due to the natural variation in wood, we cannot accept returns based on shape or texture preferences—each piece is one-of-a-kind.

Every piece of driftwood is one of a kind. Because this is a natural material, its size, shape, form, grain and colour — and, where sold by weight, the number of pieces you receive — will vary, so the photos are a guide rather than the exact item you'll get. Natural knots, curves, texture and colour variation are part of the wood's character, not faults. We can't guarantee a set mix of small, medium or large pieces unless it's arranged with us before purchase.
