About this fish
Blue Badis (Badis badis)
The chameleon fish. Blue Badis shift colour with mood, and a settled male shows rich blue and red tones that most people never expect from such a quiet little fish.
Quick facts
- Size supplied: 4 to 6cm
- Temperament: peaceful with other species, males territorial with each other
- Diet: prefers live and frozen foods (brine shrimp, daphnia, bloodworm); may ignore flakes
- Tank: planted, with caves, wood and leaf litter
Keeping tips
- Give each male his own cave or territory
- Pair with calm tankmates; fast eaters can starve them out at feeding time
- Will hunt baby shrimp, so not ideal for shrimp breeding tanks
Live fish. Colour and pattern vary between individuals.
