Rock Powder: Finish Your Hardscape the Way Nature Does
Look closely at a riverbed or a scree slope and the rock never stops at a clean edge. It breaks down into gravel, then grit, then dust, and that gradient is what makes a scene read as real. Rock powder gives you that final layer. Each one is crushed from the same stone we sell as hardscape, so Seiryu powder matches Seiryu rock, Dragon Stone powder matches Dragon Stone, and the transition from boulder to substrate disappears.
This is a finishing material, not a fertiliser. It adds no nutrients and is not a substrate on its own. What it does is purely visual: it hides the hard line where rock meets sand, builds convincing scree at the base of a cliff, and lets you shade a path or a slope with the same tones as the stone above it.
How to use it
- Blend the base: dust a thin band around the foot of each rock so it looks bedded into the ground rather than placed on top
- Build scree: pile it thicker on one side of a slope and let it thin out toward the foreground
- Mix grades: combine powder with small chips of the same stone for a natural range of particle sizes
- Apply dry: add it before filling, then mist and fill slowly so it stays where you put it
Lava powders are inert and safe in any tank. Seiryu, Dragon Stone and Fossil Wood powders carry the same mild hardness lift as the parent stone, so use them lightly in soft water setups.
