Expert Tips

Cryptocoryne wendtii 'Red' is a root feeder that benefits from nutrient-rich substrate or root tabs. The plant develops more intense red and burgundy tones under higher light conditions, while lower light will produce more brownish-green leaves. Don't be alarmed if the plant experiences "crypt melt" when first introduced to your aquarium - this is a normal adjustment period and new growth will emerge adapted to your tank conditions.

Plant in small groups of 3-5 for best visual impact. Once established, the plant is extremely hardy and can tolerate a wide range of conditions. Propagates naturally by sending out runners with new plantlets.

All plants are shipped carefully packaged to ensure they arrive in excellent condition. Live plants may vary slightly in size and colour from photos.

CO2 requirements vary by species. Check the Care Information tab for this specific plant. Many of our plants can thrive without CO2, though growth may be slower.

Most of our aquarium plants are grown submerged (underwater), which means they adapt faster to your tank and are less likely to melt. This gives you stronger roots and instant success. The exception is our terrarium plants, which are grown emersed (above water)
