Description

Rotala macrandra Type 2 is a rare and highly sought-after stem plant distinguished by its unique curled leaf margins and stunning pink undertones. This premium specimen creates an extraordinary visual texture in planted aquariums, with delicate leaf edges that curl gracefully and develop vibrant pink-to-red coloration under optimal conditions.

The distinctive curled margins set Type 2 apart from other macrandra varieties, creating a softer, more dimensional appearance that adds depth and movement to aquascapes. Combined with its pink undertones that intensify under high lighting, this plant becomes a true showpiece that elevates any high-tech planted tank from beautiful to extraordinary.

Care Information

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 24-28°C
  • pH: 5.5-7.0
  • Hardness: Soft to medium

Planting Guide:

Plant individual stems 2-3cm apart in nutrient-rich substrate. Remove lower leaves from the bottom 3-4cm of stem before planting. Provide ample space between stems for light penetration to maintain the characteristic curled margins and vibrant pink coloration throughout the plant.

Maintenance:

Requires high lighting (70+ PAR), CO2 injection, and comprehensive fertilization including iron and micronutrients for best pink coloration and curled leaf development. Soft, slightly acidic water produces the most intense colors and pronounced leaf curl. Trim regularly and replant tops to maintain compact growth. This is a demanding plant best suited for experienced aquascapers with stable, high-tech setups.
