Creeping Jenny is a versatile trailing plant that brings vibrant lime-green to golden-yellow foliage to your aquascape. When grown submerged, it produces long, flexible stems with delicate round to oval leaves, creating a soft, naturalistic texture similar to Hydrocotyle or Bacopa.

Aquatic Growth Characteristics:

  • Long, flexible stems that trail horizontally or arch gently upward
  • Smaller, thinner leaves than emersed form—round to oval shape
  • Lighter green to yellow-green coloration under strong light
  • Creeping growth habit, rooting at nodes when in contact with substrate
  • Spreads via runners, forming soft mats across the substrate

Care Requirements:

  • Lighting: Medium minimum; high light keeps leaves compact and vibrant. Under low light, stems become leggy, pale, and less dense.
  • CO₂: Not essential but beneficial- enhances growth speed and colour intensity. Without CO₂, growth is slower and more stem-like.
  • Substrate: Nutrient-rich substrate or root tabs recommended for optimal growth
  • Temperature: 18–26°C
  • pH: 6.0–7.5

Growth Speed:

Moderate to fast under good conditions. Faster growth with medium–high light, CO₂ injection, and nutrient-rich substrate.

Placement & Design:

Ideal for foreground to midground placement where its trailing habit can be appreciated. Excellent for draping over hardscape, filling gaps naturally, or creating soft transitions between substrate and stone. Pair with darker-leaved plants like Cryptocoryne or Anubias to highlight its bright foliage.

Maintenance:

Regular trimming encourages dense, compact growth and prevents legginess. Propagate easily by cutting runners and replanting stems into the substrate—each node can produce adventitious roots.

CO2 requirements vary by species. Check the Care Information tab for this specific plant. Many of our plants can thrive without CO2, though growth may be slower.

Most of our aquarium plants are grown submerged (underwater), which means they adapt faster to your tank and are less likely to melt. This gives you stronger roots and instant success. The exception is our terrarium plants, which are grown emersed (above water)

Due to the perishable nature of live plants, we cannot accept change-of-mind returns once dispatched. However, our 24-hour arrival guarantee covers any plants that arrive in poor condition.
