Rotala Vietnam is a graceful stem plant that brings fine texture and natural movement to aquascapes. Its slender, needle-like leaves and bushy growth pattern offer a soft and flowing appearance that enhances the depth and balance of freshwater planted tanks. Native to Asia, this fast-growing species adapts beautifully to aquascaping styles ranging from minimalistic Iwagumi layouts to lush, Dutch-inspired tanks.

Unlike Rotala HRA, which displays bold red tones, Rotala Vietnam displays lighter coloration. Its leaves range from fresh green to pinkish-red hues depending on lighting, CO₂ levels, and nutrients. This makes it versatile for aquascapers who want subtle contrast and elegance rather than striking, deep reds.

Key Features:

  • Slender, needle-like leaves with fine, delicate texture
  • Bushy growth pattern creates soft, flowing appearance
  • Fast-growing and easy to maintain
  • Subtle green to pinkish-red coloration
  • Ideal for midground to background placement
  • Adapts to various aquascaping styles from Iwagumi to Dutch

Care Requirements:

  • Light: Medium to High
  • CO₂: Recommended for optimal growth and color
  • Growth Rate: Fast
  • Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
  • Placement: Midground to Background

Aquascaping Applications:

Rotala Vietnam excels in creating soft, textured backgrounds and midground accents. Plant in groups of 5-10 stems for maximum visual impact. Regular trimming encourages bushier growth and maintains the desired shape. The fine needle-like leaves create beautiful contrast against broader-leaved plants and add natural movement to your aquascape. Perfect for aquascapers seeking elegant, subtle color transitions rather than bold reds.

CO2 requirements vary by species. Check the Care Information tab for this specific plant. Many of our plants can thrive without CO2, though growth may be slower.

Most of our aquarium plants are grown submerged (underwater), which means they adapt faster to your tank and are less likely to melt. This gives you stronger roots and instant success. The exception is our terrarium plants, which are grown emersed (above water)

Due to the perishable nature of live plants, we cannot accept change-of-mind returns once dispatched. However, our 24-hour arrival guarantee covers any plants that arrive in poor condition.
